3. Configuring Remote Accounts

Clupper comes up with various pre-configured accounts to host your content, e.g. ImageShack and RapidShare. Neither configuration nor registration is needed to use them, you may start cluppering instantly. If needed, you are able to create more accounts, for example to upload content to your own FTP space. Basically, an account bundles information on where to upload files and how to access those files via a browser. To configure accounts, right click the Clupper tray icon and choose "Preferences" from the menu. The section "Accounts" contains all currently available accounts that may be used to publish content. Except changing names there is nothing to do for pre-configured hosters like ImageShack and RapidShare
To configure Clupper to upload data to your own FTP space follow the following guidelines.

  • Name: An arbitrary name for this account
  • Host: The hostname of the server where you want to put files, e.g. yourhostname.com
  • Port: The ftp port at which your ftp server listens for incoming request, e.g. 21
  • FTP-Path: The relative path from your ftp root directory to put files in. Log in to your server via FTP (you are in the ftp root directory now). In a directoy accessible via HTTP create a folder for clupper (e.g. clupper) and enter the relative path from ftp root to here in the options (e.g. clupper)
  • HTTP-URL: The absolute HTTP path under which the above entered path can be accessed. For the above ftp path and host the HTTP-URL would be http://yourhostname.com/clupper
  • User: The ftp log in username, e.g. b282039
  • Password: The ftp password, e.g. ftppass

4. Editing images

There are different possibilities to edit an image before uploading it. Right click the clupper try icon and select the "Edit" item to start the editor. If the clipboard holds an image the editor starts. The following editing tools are available at present:

  • Crop-Tool
    • Use this tool to crop your images. Just drag and drop the mouse to select the crop area. After releasing the image is croped immediatly.
  • Advance Crop-Tool
    • This tool is similar to the above described standard crop tool but does not crop the selected area immediatly after releasing the mouse button. Instead, a frame is shown around the crop area which can be moved by dragging one of the four marked edges. Click the middle mouse button to finally crop the image after you made your choice.
  • Marker
    • Use the marker like a pencil to highlight specific areas of an image.

Every editing step can be taken back by simply clicking the "Undo" button. To upload the image after finishing the edit just click the appropriate "Clup it" button. For easy access all editor functions can be chosen from the context menu (right click) too.

5. Upload History

If enabled, Clupper remebers each successful upload in a history including a content preview. Using the history you can easily access previously published content and its URLs.
